| Celebrate Pasko, the filipino Christmas, with music, art, and the parol: an illuminated star and symbol of community which helps define Filipino Christmas festivities. Learn to make a parol in a workshop led by members of the Bayanihan Community Center from 11:00 am- 3:00 pm; discover more about parol in a lecture at 1:00 pm; and hum along with the choral group, Saranghimig, as they perform traditional Filipino songs in Samsung Hall 3:30 - 4:15 pm. |

| MC Canlas of the Bayanihan Community Center and the Filipino American Development Foundation will lecture on the history and art of the Philippine Parol, a star shaped Christmas Lantern. The Parol symbolizes the star of Bethlehem ; it is a foundation of light, a sign of hope amidst the "darkness" in the world. In today's "darkness" that hovers in the Philippines and in the Filipino Diaspora, the Parol Bayanihan in Tagalog. The hanging of the Parol in windows during the holiday season reminds people : Hindi Ka Nag-Iisa-- "you are not alone" |
